Our History

A Journey of Faith Since 1867

1867

Our Origins

The Scripture Union movement began in England when Josier Spiers observed children playing on a beach. He engaged them by writing 'God is Love' in the sand and teaching them Christian songs and Bible verses. This simple act sparked interest and led to the concept of providing daily Bible verses.

Early Development

Anna Morson recognized the need for structured Bible learning and proposed printing Bible verses on cards. This led to the distribution of 6,000 cards that year. By 1893, over 13 million cards had been distributed in over 50 languages, expanding the reach of daily Bible readings across Europe.
